Samsung Electronics is going to spend $4 billion (£2.4 billion) on going green, it announced today.

The company, known for its mobile phones and screens, plans to cut greenhouse gas emissions from its plants by 50 per cent over the next four years.

Samsung also wants to put money into research and development for eco-friendly products. The company said that it plans for its entire product line to become environmentally friendly in the future.

The move is part of the South Korean Government’s plan to help the economy grow though green projects. Both LG and JPMorgan signed up to the scheme earlier this year.
