HOUSEHOLDERS in the Highlands have been urged to find out how to make their homes energy efficient.
Highland MPs Danny Alexander and Charles Kennedy made the plea yesterday during a visit to the Energy Saving Trust’s advice centre at Fairways Business Park.
They encouraged homeowners to contact the trust’s free advice line to get tips on lowering their energy bills.
It follows a survey conducted by the MPs earlier this year, which found that six out of 10 respondents did not know that assistance may be available through energy suppliers with home insulation improvements.
Mr Alexander, MP for Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey, said: “It’s important that people across the Highlands are aware of the help that is available.
“The Energy Saving Trust works to advise people on what improvements they can make and what support is available to help them.”
Mr Kennedy, MP for Ross, Skye and Lochaber, encouraged anyone who is struggling with energy bills or who wants to improve their home’s energy efficiency to contact the service.
“Improving home insulation can help lower energy bills and help the environment,” he added.
