Green tech 'will be increasingly important'

Energy saving green technology will become more and more important to consumers and businesses in the future, an expert has said.
A spokesperson for smart energy and home monitoring system AlertMe commented that everyone is interested in eco-friendly innovations because as well as saving the planet, they also help peoples' bank balances.
AlertMe has itself won recognition for its energy saving credentials, having been nominated for the Department for Business Innovation and Skills' iawards.
The awards ceremony has been set up to recognise and celebrate the best of British science, technology and innovation, making it the first government-backed scheme to do this.
While there is a lot of attention and comment on how best to control the impact of climate change, the spokesperson said, there is demand for products which consumers and businesses can use in everyday life.
"There will continue to be a wave of innovative new clean technologies reaching the market," she added.
Winners of the iawards will be announced on November 16th 2009.
